Today, I went to the doc for the regularly scheduled monthly check-up. It was a rather quick appointment, but a wonderful one! It began with my first really great opportunity to hear Rockaroo's healthy heartbeat via the doppler. Baby's heart sang at 144 bpm. Afterward, the doc came in to discuss the results of all of my blood work, the sonogram from my 12 week appointment, and answer any questions I may have. I really didn't have any questions, so she went on to tell me that it's beautiful that I feel as well as I do, and that it looks like I'm experiencing a "textbook pregnancy" -- that my weight, baby's size and heartbeat -- all looks just fine and dandy. What incredibly comforting and excited words to hear.
Since the last time I wrote, we have shared the wonderful news with Charlie's family, followed by sharing it with the world. The reactions to the special news have been so much fun!! I took a video of the family reaction -- priceless! We gave these gifts to Mom and Papa Mango:
Mom Rockwell opened her gift ahead of Papa Mango. As soon as she removed the frame from the box and bubble wrap, she exclaimed, "Oh yaaaay!!" while Mango, Brian, and Sarah peeked in for a closer look. After a second or two of silence, Sarah said, "Stop it" followed by a hilarious woo-girl-type exclamation of excitement. Becca, in the mean time, was jumping up and down, fist pumping. Brian was pointing at her -- the two of them had been enjoying an inside joke all day about the possibility of me being pregnant. So. Much. Fun. The whole vacation was a blast, just VERY short. However, time with family is irreplaceable, and vacation is time away, regardless of length. I'm so pleased that we got time away and that the secret is finally out! :)
So, at 14 weeks and 5 days, I'm sitting happily in the beginning of my second trimester. I am ridiculously hungry just about all of the time, and have officially purchased my first pair of maternity pants (a gift from Charlie, actually). We will *hopefully* find out if we are expecting a boy or a girl on April 9th. We are still on the fence about whether or not we want to know in the office, or if we would rather do some sort of reveal. Suppose we should figure that out soon!
