Excited Grandma

My Grandma Connie's funeral was beautiful.  My mom, aunt, and uncle did an incredible job honoring her memory.  Tons of family and friends gathered to celebrate her life, and I was so glad I was able to make it.  Seeing family was so so nice, even though the circumstances were not.  It was a quick trip -- I left Dallas on a Wednesday, returned on that Friday, and got back to work the same day. But before I got back, I got to share our happy little secret.

My mom's reaction was exactly what I expected -- she cried, she threw her hands up in the air, and she did a little chair dance to her tune of, "I'm going to be a Grandma!"  I'm so so glad I got to experience her excitement in person!!  To share the secret, I told her I had something for her, and I grabbed my phone out of my purse.  I have a few photos of the positive pregnancy tests, so I chose one to show to her.  I got so shaky and nervous!  I showed her the photo, and she got a little confused -- she couldn't really see the tiny blue plus (+) signs.  SO, I zoomed in and showed her the digital test, which clearly said, "PREGNANT".  Upon seeing that, she got it!

We were out to dinner with my dad's brother and his wife, and I hadn't seen them since our wedding.  My aunt got teary-eyed, and they both were thrilled.  It really took the hard edge off of all of the sadness.  My mom immediately begged me to tell my aunt Glenda (her baby sis) because she felt like it would do her some serious good.  And it did...especially since it meant that I ended up telling all of the Hubbard family.  Lots of hugs, lots of smiles, and lots of congratulatory banter.  I only wish my Grandma and my Charlie could have been there to enjoy it too.

I also called my sister, Lynndee, to let her know.  Aurora got to hear it when I told mom, and she is very excited to become an auntie!  On the phone, Lynndee literally lost her mind.  She began yelling and freaking out -- I couldn't understand a thing she was saying.  Since I've told her, I can already feel our relationship getting closer.  She calls me regularly, sends texts...it's so so wonderful.

My doc appointment is only two sleeps away.  I am 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant, which means Baby Rockaroo is about the size of a grape at about an inch long from head to rump.  I'm getting so nervous and excited.  I just hope sweet little Rockaroo is growing just fine and that we will have a little photo to share.  Then after that -- it'll be serious countdown time for our visit to the Keys to let the Rockwells in on the big secret!
